Falcons vs. Panthers Game Day Thread

Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers, Nov 15, 2009 1:00 PM EST

It's time for the back half of our annual home and home with the Falcons. The Panthers fell to the Falcons 28-20 in the first clash at their nest so the Panthers at the very least are looking to avoid the sweep. The bigger emphasis must be to beat a quality team while playing well,  gain some confidence and focus on making a second half run.

We have sunny skies today and that makes me happy. Sure the weather in Charlotte could be very different from mine here 3 hours away. My point is that my satellite ISP has sucked for the past few days with the storms and cloud cover. Maybe I will actually get to participate in this thread the entire game. I can only hope.

It's the Falcons we play this week Panther fans, which means we ignore everything else that has happened in previous games, we ignore the records and we focus soley on pummeling the red and black!

This is now an Open Thread!

Good afternoon Panther fans :)

I can’t wait for this game to get started.. So much is riding on todays performance.

So, I wonder if ATL tries to start a fight this week?

Steve Smith should return the kicks...

Jake can’t seem to get the ball in his hands, so it’s be another way to get him 5-6 touches…

Jake’s been better at throwing to him in recent weeks.

Smitty lost a 40+ yard bomb in the lights last week which would have put him over 100 yards for the game.

Question..

I know this is a bit late now that Thomas Davis is injured, however we always had one linebacker that seemed pretty non-existent… Why didn’t we incorporate a 5-2? I know it sounds impractical but what would sacrificing a linebacker for another DT do when said LB hardly made a difference? It’d help shut down the run, allowing the two LB’s to focus on coverage with the corners and safeties.

As I said, it’s obviously too late now that we wouldn’t have the talent to attempt such but it seems possible with two monster linebackers… maybe it’s desperation talking?

I sound like I’m uber confident right now, but in reality I’m keeping a close eye on Jake and trying to figure out if Jeff Davidson is calling the plays or if Jake is running the entire offense by himself. Our team is weird, I swear to god.

I like Ron Meeks! He just seems like such a geek on the sidelines with his glasses and his playchart.

second half

the panthers proved last week that you gotta play both halves. unless either team is up 3 TDs by halftime, then this one is going down to the wire. i’m okay with that, but a 90 yd d-will TD run to win would be lovely. i’m playing against j-stew, so i’m biased.
