Panthers vs. Cardinals Game Day Open Thread

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals, Nov 1, 2009 4:15 PM EST

I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween last night. I won third place in a costume contest. My wife used a make-up kit with blood, latex etc.. and put one of the those fake screws through my forehead. I then donned my Panther jersey and told the crowd "I'm a Panther fan, Jake Delhomme is my QB and I am really screwed!"

Let's hope the scariness ended last week and we get our act together today!

This is now an Open Thread!

One Delhomme pass, one ball bounces off a receiver's hands.

Why am I not surprised?

That was TERRIBLE THROW by Delhomme

Certainly.

He should have skipped his hands and thrown it so it stuck in his facemask. I guess that would have been a more sure play.

His one handed catch last game was pretty awesome on a bad throw by Jake, and he’s been a pretty good practice guy.

Rosario is on pace for 405 yards this season.

That's because he has no one to give him the ball.

Use running and short passes to drive down the field. Hopefully Davidson will keep the “shots down the field” to a minimum for a while.

Someone tell the lead blocker to stop backseat driving and do his job. He almost tripped over himself because Goodson wanted to take it out and make a play, leading to Goodson being tackled in the first place.

He dropped it in the process of tucking it away. You can see his arm move over the ball after he makes the catch, then starts to put it away… but CJ just dislodges it.

Ruling is a fumble. I think it stands.

you're wrong

you ‘re wrong and you’re negativity is absurd. you obviously are not a panthers fan cuz the only one you ever compliment is jake, and this has been his worst season ever. pep fought off the block. the guy went for his knees and pep jumped back to avoid the block and had the awareness to go right and jump for the ball. it wasn’t thrown right at him, he went and got it. he is also 6’7 and had to jump. name another DE with the size and jumping ability of pep. it didn’t go right to him. you’re just a hater.

by MichaelProcton on Nov 1, 2009 5:27 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

allen and taylor, seriously?

you try to insult pep by comparing him to allen and taylor, two of the best players in the game. neither one is playing as well as pep this season, or last season. allen has 1 interception in his career and no TDs, probably can’t jump and doesn’t have the lateral movement like pep. taylor is an OLB, and former defensive player of the year. but i guess when you say anybody can do it, you mean any all-pro player.

by usana_gaines on Nov 1, 2009 5:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Taylor has played exactly one of his twelve seasons as an OLB.

Jared Allen 6’ 6" 270 lbs Vertical Jump 33"
Jason Taylor 6’6" 255 lbs Vertical 32"

Taller. Bigger. Jumps higher.

I’m looking forward to reading the game blog, and it’s incredible to me that you waste the time to post all your sarcastic garbage.

We finally have a game to be proud of, and elate in, and you inject all your crap.

You’re not clever, or witty, just the opposite.

To refute what you just said “anybody could do it,” did you happen to note , in your hatred of Peppers, that he played off 2 blocks, then, noticing the play develop, dropped back into the passing lane?— this exhibits such a unique combination of versatile attributes that I can think of few DE’s — ever — that could have pulled it off.

And now I’ll desist from any more of what I know you’ll scream at as “personal attacks”, and just skip over your future posts, as I advise all Panther fans to do.

You'd have to be smart about it. Keep the ball on the ground.

But traditionally our 2 minute drill has been pretty deadly. It’s not a big deal to me since we’re so far ahead, but I would have liked to see our hurry up offense, if anything just to see if we’re waddling around like we were against Buffalo.

Yeah true.

But that can happen on every play of every game. With a field goal at halftime with momentum on our side, we could have gotten ahead by four possessions and put this game even more out of reach. I would have just liked to seen us burn our 3 timeouts and see if we could get into field goal range.

Essessionally 4 possessions.

That’s if they make all three 2 point attempts, which I don’t think they can pull off.

The game is just about back on though! We could go back and forth all day. In the end, Fox is a conservative coach and as long as we have him, he’ll pull moves like that.

But we’ve gotten to the Super Bowl with him, so it works. And whatever works, works.

If he is no good, cut him. I am sure Wade Philips would love to have him back. If he is good use him. Keeping 2 questionable QB’s on the team behind Jake is terrible management. Especially with our penchant for trading 1st round picks.
