It's the same Jake alright, if we conveniently ignore the 10 interceptions.

Also, San Diego and Chicago were tough matchups last year as well. The Panthers were just tougher, and Jake Delhomme pulled off a magnificent last drive to help us beat the Chargers.

Now that I’m taking a second glance at it, we actually had a tougher schedule last year than we did this year. Amazing….wow.

I completely agree

The first three games last year were tough – San DIego and Minnesota were away games. We should have beaten Atlanta and Dallas this year.

Pretty identical rushing stats

139 total rushes by Double Trouble, scoring 6 TD’s between them. Slightly more yds gained on those same 139 rushes.

Remember how a game ago, there was much talk about our running game troubles? Things have a way of evening out over time.

Let’s hope they do for Jake, too.

I admire your attempt but......

Jake’s touchdowns are down 20%, interceptions up 333%, and passing yards down ~22%.

Deangelo’s rushing attempts up 20% as well as rushing yards. Touchdowns up 100%.

You know where i am going with this. Numbers can be massaged anyway you want to look at it. Jake production has been total devastating to the current record, irrespective of the strength of schedule. Jake’s lack of production and increase in turnovers resulted in a shift in focus in offense. More is demanded of Deangelo, and he remains consistent in his playing.

The biggest and most important factor remains in filling in the void of a number 2 and a number 3 receiver. It is not Moose, and no one else can step up. We have a franchise and soon to be hall of fame #1 receiver, in Steve Smith, and a handful of number 4 receivers. That is why we cannot help out Jake, and his production will continue to suffer as well as the team’s point production and winning percentage.

I don’t blame Fox at this point. However, if they do not address the future of the quarterback situation through trades or drafts in the off season, then I blame everyone from Hurney on down the food chain. Our return on Jake is so poor, we do not need that much cap hit for this kind play.

Completely Agree with Three Recievers Point

Back in 2003:

Player Rec Yds Yds/Rec Long TD
Steve Smith 88 1,110 12.6 67 7
Muhsin Muhammad 54 837 15.5 60 3
Ricky Proehl 27 389 14.4 66 4
DeShaun Foster 26 207 8.0 47 2
Kris Mangum 17 199 11.7 34 0

In 2006:
                               Catches Yards AVG LONG TD
Steve Smith 103 1,563 15.2 80 12
DeShaun Foster 34 372 10.9 47 1
Keary Colbert 25 282 11.3 42 2
Ricky Proehl 25 441 17.6 69 4
Kris Mangum 23 202 8.8 24 2

So Far in 2009

Player Rec Yds Yds/Rec Long TD
Muhsin Muhammad 22 205 9.3 19 0
Steve Smith 21 259 12.3 28 0
DeAngelo Williams 13 123 9.5 20 0
Jeff King 9 95 10.6 32 2
Dante Rosario 8 117 14.6 25 2

Notice the difference in Avg Yards Recieving per Catch..

Nice stats SS

It’s hard not to pin it on Delhomme versus the schedule. The 10 INT’s is what stands out as the big difference. If 7 of those were instead completions maybe the panthers are instead 3-2 or even 4-1. We then wouldn’t be talking about Delhomme’s poor start.
