Ask RotB: Playoff Edition
Hey folks, its Andrew from RotB here for our playoff edition of Q&A. This is going to be a tough one for us. You guys got a good squad. If our team can play like they did on Saturday though, then you guys are in trouble. The first meeting between the teams may be a good indication of the kind of game we'll see this Saturday. In case you wanted to know, here are some keys to the game for the Cardinals:
- Stop the RUN! Your running backs are going to be hungry. If we play like we did against Michael Turner, then we should be fine.
- Effectively run the ball. If James can keep up the steady pace, then it will open up the passing game even more then it already is.
- Don't get conservative. If our D can rattle Delhomme and get him to scramble, then it will buy time for our corners to get into position to make a play.
- NO bonehead mistakes. We tend to get ahead of ourselves and commit stupid penalties or turnovers. If we stop that, it could be the difference maker.
Go ahead and drop any questions you got and I'll answer them as quick as possible. Lets hope for a good game fellas.

Tim Hightower?
It’s probably a popular question, but I remember last time we played you guys were pretty high on him. Do you still think he is your future back?

I think he can be.
He needs to develop some other parts of his game. He still gets the tough yards and he is a pounder. You will see him in some short yardage situations and near the goal line.

Have you guys run a fake punt or FG since the failed one against us?

DRC
Sweet INT he had against the Falcons. How has the rookie progressed in his first season?

You could say..
that he is turning into a shutdown corner. The past few games he has been starting, whoever he covers is pretty quiet the who game. And he’s not a afraid to go after the ball.

Prio to the Falcons game Warner's stats were down (for him)
from the first half of the season. What was the defense doing that limiting the passing game?

They were just bringing 4 man fronts
Warner said it himself that when the D blitzes, he plays better and exposes the D. But when they only rush 3, he struggles. Some INTS lately have also been caused by receivers tipping the pass.

Who was your defensive MVP for the season?

Thats a tough one..
Its gotta be between A Dub(Adrian Wilson) or Karlos Dansby. A Dub can change a game by himself whether its a big hit, pick, or sack. He’s a beast on the LOS. Dansby is our playmaker and Im sure you know after our first meeting. He’s always trying to go after the ball and he stalks the ballcarrier. He owned Turner last week.

So are you guys still loving my GT homey Whisenhunt?
We went to GT at the same time (but I’m really not that old).

Whiz means a lot
He’s really changed the mindset of the Cardinals. He’s made them more competitive, obviously, and I really see him being our headcoach for a long time.

Turner is nothing like D-Williams....He may be good.

LOL
We shall see. I was expecting Turner to have a huge game. Remember..last game D Williams only had 108, he still got over 100 but he wasn’t running all over us. Our D is very underrated.

We have all 5 starters on the o-line this time
A better test of how far your D has come

Why did you guys change punters since the last time we saw you?

Dirk Johnson..
Was crap. He was muffing punts left and right for 20, or 30 yards. Graham is steady and can pin you deep.

Last time
You guys are playing against a new backfield, in my opinion. Last time we played the Cards, Jonathan Stewart was breaking out, and he actually was the one to have the big game, breaking tackles and having big plays. Deangelo just got the 100 as a very conservative rush it up the middle back.
Now, deangelo is doing freakish things with the defense and Jonathan is always there to stiff arm somebody. Are you wanting to stuff the box against us and leave Steve Smith in single coverage?

Playing the run is very dangerous against the Panthers
We impressed Giants fans with our running game so that says a lot.

Moose is still beast
Really, the only thing the Panthers need on offense is that #2 receiver. We bank on that to get Steve in single coverage, that and a good running game to force them to stuff the box with linebackers.
The problem we’ve had in recent years is that we never found that 3rd down receiver when Moose left. Keary Colbert and Carter were too inconsistant and not talented enough, while Keyshawn was too much money and he couldn’t block. Moose beats off of them and he’s the complete package. He’s pure gold on 3rd down, and he has the ability to knock 1 or two guys out of the play when we call a run.
We’re going to try to frusterate you. Leave you with the inability to stop Williams unless you stuff the box, and then throw the ball to Steve Smith and Moose till you loosen up a bit. That’s Panther football.

Panthers should open up running right at them

Sorry im late..
but I think Pendergast(DC) will go after Delhomme first. If he can rattle him, then hopefully that will force the Panthers to run and thats when they stuff the box.
