Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Happy Freaking Birthday Jake Delhomme

You totally sucked today Jake, throwing 4, no make that 5 interceptions. Just terrible decision making, terrible throws and I can't believe they didn't bench you. What makes this especially sucky for me is I was just defending you Jake this past week. So many Panther fans want to ditch you and now even I can't defend you. Geez, 6 turnovers for you Jake. What happened? Your preparation obviously left something to desire.

I'm so f-ing pissed. All I ask is to make it a good game and you can't even do that. So I hope you enjoyed your 34th B-day Jake. It might as well be your 54th because you sucked!!! You totally blew our #2 seed and 12-4 record. All wasted!!!

Lord, please someone talk me down. I'm close to the edge man...I need a shot of liquor. The last 5 haven't done the trick. There is still 8 minutes left in this game and I'm going to do shots till the pain subsides.

There's always another year Jaxon

I’m tired of defending him too. He’s going to be on the ass side of my articles for the rest his career here.

What difference

does the offensive gameplan make if the QB gives up the ball 6 times? I understand the defensive gameplan was poor in not even bothering to cover Fitzgerald but when your offense keeps turning it over you don’t have much of a chance

Frye is honestly gotta be one of the top 10 3rd Stringers in all of the NFL right now--colbyb

If we had stayed with the run

I don’t think Delhomme is in the position to have 6 TOs.

well to the offseason we go

Jaxon you should do a new poll on what position we should draft most this year see if their is a new leader in that poll

yeah, I bet it changes

Nah...

They’ll be plenty of QB’s to get in free agency.

From Kurt Warner, Matt Hassleback, and Matt Cassel, I’m sure we can find someone.

I'd avoid Cassel like the plague

it’s NE’s system… and he’s going to cost a ton (2 first rounders if he’s franchise)

I don’t see Hasselbeck going anywhere.

by UtesFan89 on Jan 10, 2009 11:39 PM EST up reply actions

I wouldn't draft QB

with our first pick, taking a 2nd round QB probably won’t result a ‘franchise’ guy (like McCoy or Sanchez or someone next year?).

I still see needs at DT, CB, WR, DE/OT (depending on Peppers/Gross), and maybe FS.

Agreed.

Anyone on the defensive line would make me happy.

Fellas

It’s been a nice ride this year. I have enjoyed being on the plus side in the win column. I have been a big Jake defender as well, but I have lost all faith in him tonite. No NFC championship or Superbowl again for the Panthers. Will Jake be the qb for the Panthers again next year? Most likely yes. Why? Because John Fox went to a superbowl once with him. We wouldn’t have won 12 games this year if it wasn’t for Jake. What the f%#@ ever. Anybody can lob it up to Smith and have him catch it. Jake u r the weakest link! We need a new qb period! We need a defensive end to complement Pep if we can even negotiate a contract to keep him around. We need a corner that can defend a pass. We have several needs and next years season is a big question mark. Could McClown or Moore have done any worse? I doubt it. This is embarrassing for Panther fans. Next year is looking like a tougher schedule. I feel for the city of Charlotte, Panther fans, Jerry Richardson, Steve Smith, Double Trouble, and the Carolinas. The Panthers will never be respected until they get a qb that is legit. Forgive the rant…cuz that is exactly what it is.

After Jake's playing

I feel like i should gain some fans here in the CSR. Does this automatically give me rights to post on the front page!? :) No, i feel bad not because of our loss tonight, but because Fox said Jake is going to start next year.

But who knows…who knows.

Oh, and in no way am I taking anything away from the Cards.

They came into our house, and killed us. They took advantage of some horrible coaching and play on our part, and rolled us.

That said, we made it a lot easier by giving them the game on a silver platter.

::puts down his napkin::

Boy, was that some good Southern hospitality or what?

Seriously though, who could have seen this result coming? Well, I guess the hints were there judging from Delhomme’s performance in Oakland. Your loss is our gain and considering how rarely the Cardinals are in the positive side of any NFL-related ledger, I’ll take the gift. Thanks.

I truly wish the best for the Panthers next season except when we play in the regular season and (potentially) post-season next season.

Thank you Jaxon for being a gracious host our couple of blog weeks this season.

We all leave footprints in the sands of time, just watch out for the discarded fish hooks!

OK - Jake lost his mind

but Trgovac has not done anything to fix the problems in the secondary. Too many blown assignments over the past month. “If number 11 comes near you stop what you are doing until 2 other guys take over. If he starts to go by you, tackle him.” should be pretty easy to go over.

Can you change the poll and say “Other than Jake, who cost the Panthers the most last night?”

Who else can you blame than the DC?

When Fitz makes what 5-6 catches running the same damn crossing route splitting the zone?

We tried our hardest...

luckily for us, they didn’t learn how to score a TD until later in the season.
