Panthers vs. Steelers Game Day Open Thread

Carolina Panthers @ Pittsburgh Steelers

I’ll be the first to say that in the past I’ve quickly gotten bored watching preseason game 4’s. Most of the players playing will be cut the next week regardless of how well they play. The score certainly doesn’t count and the starters will barely play. The level of play is more likely to resemble a Division II college game than it is Pro football. But I’m excited none the less because I want to see how the vets cut up on the sideline. The ring leaders are bound to be players like Jake Delhomme, Jon Beason and Chris Harris.

Center stage will be QB Brett Basanez as he tries to convince the Panthers to carry three QB’s. RB Decori Birmingham will try his best to unseat LaBrandon Toefield and Quinton Teal will try yet again to pull some local boy magic. Other players that should be fun to watch are DT Gary Gibson and DE Hilee Taylor. These guys play with speed and determination and I bet they excite the home crowd at some point.

Here's a good link on 5 things to watch in this game as well.

How about a roll call?

Roll Call -  A blog post that asks all readers (even those who never comment) to post a short comment as acknowledgement of their presence. The comment can be as simple as username and location but may also include any details about their love of the Panthers or blogging in general.

If you still haven’t registered as a user it’s about the easiest registration process ever. Give it a try, its painless.

Check in during the game as I should be blogging from my local watering hole, if everything goes as planned.

Sammy Parker -Ouch!

I just found this on ESPN:

Parker, who caught 110 passes in four seasons with the Chiefs, couldn’t move up the depth chart after signing with the Broncos in the offseason. Denver deemed him expendable ahead of Keary Colbert, who was not re-signed by Carolina after last season.

So we signed a guy who can’t beat out Keary Colbert?

Wrong title?

Shouldn’t the title be “Panthers vs. Steelers Game Day Open Thread”.

but hey that’s okay, love the site. Glad to hear things are going better for you Jaxon.

id still take parker

even though parker didn’t beat out colber doesn’t mean we be better off having colbert. parker is more of speed guy which we need because jarret muhammad and hacket are possesion recievers with some speed. plus one of the main reason I believe we signed him is because with carter going down we need another return man and parker can be it. this preseason game will tell.

Moore

I was about to write that Matt Moore looked really good against The Steelers 1st defense… But he was just intercepted with 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Jarrett looks to be a solid 3rd or 4th receiver.

Moore was just injured

I’m watching the live play-by-play on NFL.com and while I have no idea how bad it appears he was just injured.

it says moore walked to the sideline under his own power

so he might just have gotten the wind knocked out of him

they said it is only a leg contusion, and not too serious

I bet Brett makes the team

I would say that after this Brett has a pretty good chance of making the team. Well I suppose that is if they don’t want to look for a vet QB in case Moore is hurt and will be out for a bit. I guess we’ll have to wait until we know how bad Moore is hurt, a leg contusion can be mild or very serious from my understanding.

the game and blogging

I like Samie Parker more than Keary Colbert. So Parker couldn’t beat out Colbert in a week in Denver preseason…big deal. Colbert always has more tough catches and TDs in the preseason than the regular season. However, I don’t see Parker making the team ahead after Smith, Moose, Jarrett, Hackett, and Robinson. That’s already five, and we also have a couple other guys like Travis Taylor, plus we may end up keeping several TEs – at least three.

I would love to be the co-blogger. Just let me know what to do and if you think I can handle it. My e-mail address is usana_gaines@live.com.

great blog

Have to say, it was nice to see the 2nd team wasn’t blown out by the Steelers first team. This is the best blog on the panthers.

Thanks and welcome

Hope to hear from you more.

I had technical difficulties and couldn’t blog the game. My thoughts from the game:
- Lets hope Matt Moore recovers quickly, but Basanez played well in leading that TD drive to tte the game

East Carolina is the home team

where ever they play.

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

What exactly would be required of a co-blogger?

Just curious.
