All Time Panthers Team

I saw another site that had no Panthers headed to the hall of fame (minus guys who finished their careers in Charlotte).

So I wanted to see what other people thought about making the best Panther starting squad in their short history.

Star-divide

A few positions are easy, but some are tough.

Which two of these DEs would you put on the team: Peppers, Rucker, Greene?

Who would you start at RB?  Foster (most yards) or Stephen Davis (TD machine)?

I know it's such a small sample size, but I'm curious what everyone thinks.  I'm thinking about guys at their peak, but if you think it should be their whole career, go for it.

We'll have the offense in an I-form, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 FB, 1 RB; the defense in a 4-3.

Early thoughts...

Smith at WR.
Peppers, Greene at DE.
Davis at RB.
Walls at TE?
Minter at S.

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

I would agree with all of these

Smith & Moose at WR. Jake at QB for sure inspite of Beuerleins awesome season. RB I have to go with Davis. LB Sam Mills and Dan Morgan (though they both played MLB) though I bet Beason joins them eventually. Other LB might be Lamar Lathon.

some more thoughts

Smith at WR is easy, with Moose at the other spot. The RB for me is also easy, D-Will. Davis had one good year, I see D-Will having about 7 for us. QB is kind of tough. If we’re going by one-year wonders, you gotta look at Beuerlein’s 4400 yd, 37 TD season.

I thought Greene was a LB. Kris Jenkins must be given his due as I think he has more PB appearances than any other Panther ever except Peppers.

*Facepalm*

Nice catch on Greene, I need to stop drinking bourbon for lunch (note: he was combo DE-LB, but I’m sure he’d rather be known as a LB).

This is great, I wanted multiple opinions and to flesh this out a bit, comparing numbers, etc.

I started to get misty looking at the numbers and seeing Sam Mills and Mark Fields accomplishments-

as I look back on it now, 2003 was a much more profound year than I realized at the time. Now, with the benefit of time to reflect on everything that went on. All the emerging storylines, and what the franchise grew into since, is all very amazing.

It’s one of the kinda cool things about being a young franchise- usana, you alluded to it: our young guys have a chance to be the best at their position for our franchise’s history. For instance, Beason, after 1 season ranks #34 in franchise history in tackles. 2 more years of similar numbers and he’ll have surpassed Dan Morgan.

I think it's more of an overall thing, no?

I can’t put D-Will in yet… he’s been lucky to get off of the bench. Thus Davis. Not sure of the backs before him (sadly, I don’t have career numbers memorized), and definitely not Foster.
