Panthers Get it Done, All Draft Picks Signed
Panthers GM Marty Hurney surprised many of us by getting both first round picks signed prior to Saturday’s first training camp practice. It helped that many picks around the two Panther 1st rounders were already signed making Hurney's job easier. Both players were suited up and on the practice field with their new teammates.
To make room on the roster they waived RB Alex Haynes and LB Brandon Jamison. These were two good cuts in my view as both players have spent time in Charlotte and the Panthers knew they had seen their best. The Panthers still have RB’s Nick Goings and LaBrandon Toefield backing up DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. Jamison was buried on a LB depth chart that also has plenty of special team performers leaving him expendable.
The signings avoided potential hold-outs and a big distraction. The Panther coaching staff can now focus on integrating a lot of new pieces in their revamped offense. I have to say I’m stoked by this effort to get the prize rookies in camp on time. All the pieces are in place, now all Fox has to do is put the puzzle to together.
If everything works out I’m going to be at my first TC session this Monday afternoon. If so check back on Tuesday for my first TC report.

I thought this was a blog where he gives his opinions on the moves, not a get it here 1st site, there are plenty of those around. I liked Alex Haynes and was disappointed he got cut, but you make a good point, he has had his chance in charlotte, better to let him move on elsewhere, he’s not gonna see the field this year.
Better late than never but
I am excited about the fact that the Panthers got all there draft pick signed sealed and ready to go before camp. I think it is the Panthers desire to put the best football team on the field and have them ready to go at the start of game 1.
