Are We Tough Enough
I was reading an artical on the Panther's homepage.
There are some words written on a wall that coach John Fox believes to be critical to success.
Tough, and Heart, were not on the list.
I wonder why???? When John Fox took over the head coaching job in Carolina. He said that the Panthers were not tough enough to win in the NFL.
Well with the number of starters that we have that have not played a full season in years. I ask this Question
Are we tough enough?
What makes a team Tough? Is it having starters that start every game? Is it attitude. How do you make a team Touhg. Maybe the key to next seasons success lies in the answer.
Is there still time in FA and the draft to make the Panthers Tough enough to win in the NFL.

Good question
I'm curious, what were the words on the wall?
In the NFL I think what separates the winners from the losers is mental toughness. It's easy to get demoralized by giving up big plays, untimely penalties and lost opportunities. Being able to bounce back and still play at a high level is true toughness. For a good recent example, look at the Giants. After losing game #16 to the Patriots they could have folded in the playoffs if not for the mental toughness they gained from that heartbreaking loss.

The Wall
Starting from the bottom row on the pyramid the words on the weight room wall are:
Bottom row) Hard work, Friendship, Loyalty, Cooperation.
2nd Row) Self-Control, Alertness, initiative, intensity.
3rd Row) Condition,Skill,Team Spirit
4th Row) Poise,Confidence,
5th Row) Competitive Greatness
Top) Faith, Patience
I Too, believe that mental toughness is very important. To me a player such as,
(Steve Smith) is physically tough, He also plays with "Heart" and to me that is an example of being mentally tough. Not to mention Skill and .........(Endurance) There is another word the Panthers might want to consider adding to "The Wall"
