From the NFL Network’s Total Access show, yesterdays Top 10 moments were:
#10: Richard Longest – Kicker (St. Xavier) He was in fact the longest kicker.
#9: Durant Brooks – Punter (Ga. Tech) Brooks averaged 45 yards per punt and is the best of a lean crop of punters.
Moving to the OL bench press: (@ 225 lbs/rep)
#8: Craig Stevens – TE (Cal) 27 reps
#7: John Greco – OL (Toledo) 30
#6: Carl Nicks – OL (Nebraska) 31 (The spotter from UT said "Come on corn field!")
#5: Brandon Keith – OL (N. Iowa) 31
#4: Michael Gibson – OL (Cal) 31
#3: Kirk Barton – OL – (Ohio St.) 34
#2 Jeremy Zuttah – OL (Rutgers) 35
#1 Jake Long – OL (Mich) 37
I love the trainer from Univ. of Texas with his comments and the way he barks at the players when pressing.
Outside of Long none of these guys are projected 1st rounders. Nicks & Barton will probably go in the 2nd or 3rd.
Mike Mayock Explains his Darrin McFaddin Diss
He points to three things for dropping McFaddin out of his Top 20 prospects:
- 23 fumbles in 3 years (it is a high number)
- ‘Spindly legs’ (won’t be durable)
- Off-field issues (nothing specific was mentioned)
During McFaddins interview he addressed the off-field mistakes, didn’t get into details but promised he has learned from his mistakes; something about being a night club.
The fumbles are a concern but I think he’s too much of a talent to pass up, especially if he drops out of the top 3. Every defensive coordinator Arkansas played this past season started by planning to stop McFaddin. He still led the SEC in rushing. That’s all I need to know.
The Falcons won the coin flip and the 3rd pick. They were due for something to go right. The Raiders and the Chiefs follow.
QB Joe Flacco measured in at 6’6 3/8", quite a tall drink of water.
