Kris Jenkins Not Waiting for Panthers Next Move

Panthers Pro Bowl DT Kris Jenkins has often been described as marching to the beat of his own drum. Well he’s not waiting for the Panthers to get the music started. He’s already put his home on the market though the Panthers have yet to give him a reason to think he will need to move (recently anyway).

Kris Jenkins, defensive tackle for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, has put his 4,000 square foot country club estate on the market at a record low price. The two story home features four bedrooms, three and a half baths, and a basement, and has just recently been reduced to sell for $519,900.

He put his home up for sale at a ‘record low price’ to boot. Who says a recession only affects us working stiffs? Maybe the Panthers have already had some discussions with his agent? Are they talking with other teams about a trade?

Talk about sending a message without saying anything. I think it's safe to say Jenkins wants and expects to leave Carolina. If they guy really wants to go that bad then I say let's accommodate him. I'll take a 2nd round pick for him now.

I don't like it. I think we need to keep him. Maybe he's bluffing. It's hard to find good DTs these days that can get in the backfield and stop the run. Kemo and Lewis can't cut it. If we let him go, we'll need to find a DT, so we shoot ourselves in the foot, unless we get something really good for him like a 2nd rd pick, but we would take two years to get the next DL draft pick on the field.

It ticks me off for sure

He's under contract so I don't see what he has to gain. I have to assume its only a matter of time until he goes public about his desire to leave...ala Chad Johnson. If he wants to leave that bad then let him leave..better then letting it fester.

It's possible that he has misinterpreted recent moves and is scred and bluffing at the same time. That's what I'm hoping. His work ethic and motivation last year led me to believe he is excited about being a Panther. However, he saw Lewis get a new contract and Morgan get cut, so he's thinking what's next. The Panthers usually aren't this busy this early in the offseason, so when he gets a call about a contract extension and his job security, he'll be fine. Well that's what I'm hoping for at least.
