Panthers vs Giants Sunday Night Game Open Thread

Carolina Panthers @ New York Giants

The Panthers clinched Wild Card spot already from last night loss by the Cowboys. The also lost earlier today and if the Falcons should lose to the Vikings the Panthers would clinch the NFC South.

Turning to the game at hand here's a link to the recap of the 2005 WC Card results against the Giants. In that home game for the Giants, Eli Manning threw 3 INT's and had a fumble. Any chance of a rerun of that performance?

I'm not finding making a prediction for this game very easy since I don't know if Brandon Jacobs will play.

How's everyone felling out there? Panthers are 3-3 on the road this season and didn't look too hot in Oakland.

This is now an Open Thread...

I think wbt works

just click on “listen live”

I tried

and got blank noise,
scrolled down to the bottom of the screen and …
Sorry…we don’t stream everything!

You can hear Rush Limbaugh online for a fee at www.rushlimbaugh.com and Panther games at www.panthers.com.
but sure can’t find it at panthers.com!

the Panthers site

links to NFL Fieldpass, which costs money.

That’s the link if you’re interested.

Predictions

The panthers NEED this game, NY doesn’t
they won the super-bowl last year as road warriors, and in fact would maybe rather play on the road??? (isn’t NY like 1-5 in december at home?)
We see limited doses of Jacobs as they need him healthy for the playoffs
so win panthers 24-10…

NY Times

The only prediction I have was to the NY times but only because it was a part of the deal. I really don’t have a prediction

Buckle up your seatbelts guys.

The game is about to start and the Madden has landed. It’s going to be a good game.

by LittleKing on Dec 21, 2008 9:11 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Indeed.

The fact that this is a running team will hold him down his entire career though. He’d be a shoe-in HOF if he was a member of the Colts or the Packers.

Coming from a Panther’s fan, but if other “NFL fans” watch him play like we do every Sunday (and Mondays now), they would realize how much of an impact he has even when he doesn’t get the ball.

The Panther's D

Must have the mindset that when Jacobs has the ball, tackle LOW.

In other words…Work those knees.

by ChipperTeixeira89 on Dec 21, 2008 9:28 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not really.

That’s typically the thing you do when you’re up against a bruiser back. Lots of upper body strength, so you gotta knock it down.

"Once again the trowsers of evil are yanked down by the mocking hands of justice!"-Revshawn

by Revshawn on Dec 21, 2008 9:30 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nono, of course.

That’s exactly what I was saying. Knock the legs out so the upper body doesn’t matter.

by Revshawn on Dec 21, 2008 9:34 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Again: the report on Jonathan Stewart if you missed it in the last blog… He has a head injury and his return is questionable. They have not mentioned the word “concussion” in the pressbox yet, but certainly that’s a strong possibility.

However, i think it’s best for him and the team (especially with the now 8 point lead) that he just stayed out and just run goings instead.

snow in NY!

“Although there’s no snow on the field because of the tarp that covered it, there’s snow all over the stands. A few angry fans have tossed snowballs so far onto the field when angry at a perceived injustice by game officials — once, after Steve Smith’s "overturned-on-review” replay, there were enough snowballs that several Panthers put on parkas on the sideline for protection."

But as long as the offense gets atleast 3 on this possession, I’ll be happy.

I like what they did with the d-line since Kemo is out

I had a feeling Brayton would get the start inside and Johnson playing at left end. Best four man front the Panthers can muster without Kemo.

The secondary can do all they want.

If there is no pressure on the QB, why throw the ball? He might as well sit down and tie his shoes.

It all goes hand in hand with how the d-line plays.

Any quarterback with that much time is going to pick apart an opposing team’s secondary.
