Controversy Brewing Over 'Smash-n-Dash' Moniker

Stay connected for news and updates

I just caught an interview of Titans RB LenDale White where he is upset that Panthers RB duo DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart are being called "Smash-n-Dash". We've certainly grabbed hold of it here on CSR ever since Williams mentioned it in an interview a few weeks ago. I doubt Willaims knew up of Whites claim but you can get a t-shirt with the slogan on the Titans website.

White did offer an alternative name for the Panthers explosive duo:

"Identity and Theft" - LenDale White

Too funny. I have an idea, why don't the Panthers and Titans meet on the field to settle this? Might as well throw in the Lombardi Trophy while we're at it! Winner takes all. Who's in?

Of course Jamie Dukes has to weigh in:

"I have to give it (the name) to White and Johnson. There's no Smash in Carolina, their two fast guys. They should be called Frick and Frack" - Jamie Dukes - NFL Network

Dukes should stop trying to be funny.

We actually solicited options for naming the tandem on this blog back in the preseason. The closest suggestion to Smash-n-Dash was Flash-n-Smash by JStew28.I like it but the Smash has to go first because both RB's smash through the line or a tackle or two before flashing to the end zone.

Smash-n-Flash

I can get used to it.The top vote getter in a poll I ran was Two-Headed Monster, which I've heard used on TV a couple times.

The truth is that unless White trademarked the moniker the Panther RB's and its fans are free to call their awesone combination whatever they want. Maybe White should consider another nickname:

"Get over-n- It"

[Update by Jaxon, 12/13/08 9:57 AM EST ] White claims to have copyrighted the moniker. Yet he said he just came up with it in October? I doubt you can get a copyright that quickly. I bet he's BS'ing that one.
