Lions vs. Panthers Game Day Open Thread
Detroit Lions at Carolina Panthers, Nov 16, 2008 1:00 PM EST
Welcome to the CRS game day open thread. The Detroit Lions come to town in what should hopefully be a fairly easy victory. For the Cardiac Cats though thats never a sure thing. Look for lots of running by the Panthers and maybe some big plays in the passing game.
I'm especially excited to see my man WR Calvin Johnson come to town. He's quite the weapon so the Panther secondary better keep him marked closely.
Feel free to chime in anytime. If you can't watch the game live just let us know and those on the thread watching the game will give you some incite on the big plays.
Go Panthers!!

Today
Would like to see Jake play a good game with the pass and the running backs rack up some yards. J-Stew could really build some confidence if he can break off some good runs.

Who else is around?
I’m going to feel silly if I’m talking to myself.

Lions have a horrible run D
and you pass on 1st down?
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 1:25 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
It's very early yet, just getting them off balance
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 1:26 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
We're more off balance
than they are.
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 1:26 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Thank god for our D
save the first drive.

On another note, LETS GO VIKINGS!
Beat those Bucs!

Two sacks already
Not going to be a good day to be Daunte Culpepper
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 1:38 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Unbelievable
I’m starting to get pissed off.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 1:42 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Maybe they are too
two good stops there.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 1:44 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
We've got more timeouts than they do, though!
So we’re winning the who has more timeouts battle!

Awww
J-Stew could have had a TD but he tripped!

The offense finally gets going!
Jeff King!
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 1:55 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
nice hands!
Jeff King. Nice to see the offense use the TE.
by Davejinxer on Nov 16, 2008 1:57 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
That would have been huge
A three and out now would be nice.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 2:00 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I could go for that
but not if Fox has to challenge. He’s already used one.
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 2:14 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Well he challenged
Let’s see what happens
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 2:15 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Whyyyy throw into double coverage?
Thank God that wasn’t picked off
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 2:19 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
What are they reviewing?
And no challenges left… that’s not so awesome
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 2:21 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Both Stewart and Williams
are averaging over 10 yards a carry. Awesome.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 2:24 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
They got it...
You think they’d have taken one more shot downfield, especially with a TO left.
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 2:32 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
If I was a Detroit fan I'd be furious they didn't go for it.
The way we’re moving the ball now, they need to put up as many points as possible. FGs aren’t going to cut it.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 2:34 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Defense...
I hope they get it together. Their offense is moving the ball at will.
by Davejinxer on Nov 16, 2008 2:34 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Who do you think ends up with over 100 yards rushing?
A) Stewart
B) Williams
C) Both
I vote C

A complete game..
from offense, defense, and special teams. Is that too much to ask. Panthers will need it next week against the falcons.
by Davejinxer on Nov 16, 2008 2:38 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Possibly both..
If the d can get their o off the field.
by Davejinxer on Nov 16, 2008 2:38 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
FG
I guess it works… would’ve preferred a TD though.
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 2:55 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Denver's beating Atlanta 17-13
Hope that holds! Vikings and Bucs tied up at 13
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 3:08 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
That's why
the stupid challenge early sucked.
Now if there’s something close, we’re screwed.
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 3:09 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
TERRIBLE CALL
roughing the kicker? I don’t think so.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 3:11 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Giants dominating
Bucs tied, atl down, saints winning.
by Davejinxer on Nov 16, 2008 3:15 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Gotta be happy with the Defense
Forcing the punt, then the penalty, then stopping them again. Nice series.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 3:17 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
I love Steve Smith.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 3:19 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Also
I wish I didn’t start McNabb on my fantasy team.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 3:19 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Jonathan Stewart!
That’s 99 for him and 115 for Williams
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 3:21 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Atlanta's up three on Denver now
Minnesota still tied up with Tampa
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 3:27 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Moose..
I know that throw was somewhat behind you, but catch those!
by Davejinxer on Nov 16, 2008 3:28 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
And the ball back
on a fumbled kickoff
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 3:36 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Forget Tampa
We need to get the win here… and we’re playing like crap.
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 3:37 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Culpepper
stuffed on the 2-point attempt!
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 3:43 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Panthers lose!
Forget about getting any respect in the NFL!!!
by Davejinxer on Nov 16, 2008 3:50 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Crap
No-Call to make up for the no-call on the facemask.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 3:51 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
That right there
is the difference between a bad team (Detroit) and a good one (Carolina).
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 3:53 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Let's see how..
the panthers do against a decent team next week!!!
by Davejinxer on Nov 16, 2008 3:55 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
The passing game...
f@#$ing pisses me off!!!!
by Davejinxer on Nov 16, 2008 4:04 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
You can't just not pass
If nothing else, you need to try to help Jake get his rhythm back. It’s not like we’re going to lose.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 4:05 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
This late though
make them call their TOs. Why pass it?
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 4:05 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
It doesn't matter
make them call their TO.
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 4:06 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
What's the point
of paying Steve Smith all that money if you don’t get the ball to him?
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 4:05 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
He'll get it.
But you don’t need to throw it at him every play. That’ll just result in interceptions.
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 4:07 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I really like Hilee Taylor
that was a great pick.
by MrEd12345 on Nov 16, 2008 4:09 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Game.
Now to work on the passing game.
by UtesFan89 on Nov 16, 2008 4:11 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Take a knee...
Play like that next few weeks and their asses will be handed to them. W is a w!
