Panthers May Start Omiyale at LT vs. Chiefs
According to a league source, the Carolina Panthers plan to start backup OT Frank Omiyale in place of injured LT Jordan Gross (concussion-out) on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Omiyale, now in his fourth season, has yet to start a regular season game.
The former Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle was originally selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round of the 2005 draft.
Most of us including myself thought the Panthers would move Travelle Wharton to LT and insert Geoff Hangartner at LG. This decision leaves Wharton at LG and boosts the inside running game.
I've seen so little of this guy I can't say whether he's up for it or not. I think it says a lot if he does get the start.
He's 6'4" and 310 lbs. He'll have 30 lbs on the Chiefs DE Hali. It's going to be fun seeing if the kid can handle it. It's also a sign the Panthers plan to run the ball up the A-gaps.
He kinda looks like a well shaven bad ass!
