Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Why the Panther will ...

Lose.

This game will be decided on two things, if our WR can catch the ball and if the defense can stop the pass. If this becomes a shootout the Panthers could be in trouble. Yes the our secondary ranked second in the league with 2nd fewest yards allowed per game. However, it the score keeps rising this means the Panthers are not getting the pressure they need on Warner to throw off his timing. If Warner can sit back in the pocket then it's hard for the secondary to cover forever, someone will usually end up open.

As we saw in the loss to Tampa, the three INT came off of tipped passes. If our receiver can't the ball then it will be a long day. While our D may be good, they are human and can only play on the field so long before they get tired. Once the D gets tired Warner can open up the pass even more and blow the game wide open.

Win.

This game will be decided upon the defense causing turnovers and the offense controlling the clock. The football will see plenty of air time today, but if the Panthers can keep the game clock under control between with what they do best, a balanced offense between running and passing, the good game management should do them well. Smith will get his changes down the field. Provided he can turn a few of those into scores that will soften up the defense for a big day on the ground.

Since we know the Cardinals will be passing the ball, it will be up to the corners to get their hands on the ball. Taking away a few of those deep passes with INT's, this could cause the Cards to want to try to run the ball more to balance out their play calling. Then if the secondary can cover the receiver for a decent length of time it will allow the the DL players time to get to Warner.
