Panthers overrated? Nope not really.

Meet the team that has so called 'experts' all over the NFL scratching their heads. The Carolina Panthers slaughtered the New Orlean Saints 30-7 in a game that clearly exemplifies how the Panthers like to play their football. With this victory, the Panthers move to first place in the NFC South for the time being while the Tampa Bay Bucs face off against the Seattle Seahawks in order to try to join them there.

All of the playmakers made plays today, one of the biggest plays came from Julius Peppers with a forced fumble, which brought all the momentum over to the Panthers and they never looked back. Up till now, the Saints have never scored less then 24 points. To hold Sean Peyton's powerful west coast offense to only 7 points is a feat not lightly earned. Steve Smith had another 100 yard game and a TD, and Stewart and Williams combined for over 120 yards once more. Put it all together and the Panthers grind out another victory. This ought to get the rear end of our fanbase to shut up. If you had to learn anything by watching this game, it just goes to show you that you can never judge a team based on one game. .

The running game was awesome, and I've decided that I'm done trying to figure out when Stewie is going to 'take' the starting job away from Williams. There is no point in even trying! They're just too balanced and they work too good with each other. Stewie is good for grinding up the middle and running over people, and Williams can outrun anyone if he can just get around the D-Line to that edge. That's the major difference between the Panthers of this year and the Panthers of last year. They can run the football. Jake Delhomme will never be a Peytan Manning, but if you give him a running game then he can work the playaction and do amazing things.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. This team is in the same formula that almost won the Superbowl, except that the ferocious front 4 have been replaced by a group of elite linebackers, lead by a Jon Beason instead of a Dan Morgan. This team is on pace for a 10-12 win season and if everything goes according to plan, we might even make it to the big game.

How about that flea-flicker?

Can you believe they actually ran a fleaflicker and it worked to the tune of 39 yards. I’ve got a post coming that also leads with your key observation Revshawn, that Julius changed the direction of this game with the forced fumble.

the flick looked odd

When the played happened it almost looked like the RB wasn’t suppose to throw it back, he basically throw it backwards blindly. don’t they usually at least turn their head. At least that is what I remember.

It looked worse when it happened

I thought it was a fumble at first. But on the replay you can see Stewart turn his head and throw it back. Nice play on his part

Missed interceptions

The whuppin’ should have been more, but there were several dropped interceptions. I was glad to see the LB’s & DB’s realize this, and talk about spending some extra time practicing catching.

Yeah, that one Harris and Beason had a shot at but the ball looked greased!!

You guys are the real deal

I was afraid at the beginning of the season that Carolina would be the class of the division, and it looks like I’m doomed to be right. From a lifelong Saints fan, enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Bah! They were lucky!

I want to see them play the Panthers when they’re actually playing. I still say we gave them that win. It should be a better game when we actually play the game.
