Bucs Put the Smack Down on the Panthers 27-3

The Panthers put themselves in a hole early and never climbed out. I really want to blame Dante Rosario for that blocked punt that in my view changed the whole vibe of the game for the Panthers. Three blocked punts in six games, that ridiculous. But I know who is really to blame for this loss...

Before I get into that we have to realize that the Panthers special teams is again, as it was in 2006 & 2007 a liability to the team. The Panthers have yet to get any special plays from its special teams, no TD's, no blocks, not even a long return. The Panthers were able to overcome the same start against Chicago but on this day the Bucs took that momentum and crammed it down our throats.

I could argue the offense lost this game from the inept running game to the bobbled catches morphed into three interceptions. Jake Delhomme had a bad game there is no doubting that but I still can't blame Jake.

Actually, its all my fault.

I got overconfident and talked way too much smack. As I'm writing this I'm sure Bucs fans are pasting my site with "You got your assed kicked" and "31-17? Yeah right". If they're not they should, I deserve it. See every time I get over confident with any of my favorite sports team they then get routed.

So there you have it, it's all my fault. Someone has to accept fault for that stinker so we can move on. With the Saints coming to town the Panthers had better put this behind them or they will get run over again. Beat the Saints and it minimizes this loss to the Bucs. Lose and the Panthers are playing catch up to the Bucs and possibly the Falcons.

We'll take the next day or two to breakdown the failures, and there is plenty of blame to go around. Just remember, we're still 4-2 and tied for first place. There's no reason to panic.

hm... no.

No, you just believed that maybe for a second, just maybe once for the very first time a professional Carolina sports team (and I’ll throw NC State in there for the Wolfpack fans) could play well with the spotlight right on top of them. We all did. We all hoped that that would be the case.

I think that Carolina sports fans may simply be stuck rooting for teams that will never seize the moment and just dominate, but will always simply thrive in an underdog role. It sucks a lot, but apparently it’s the curse we’ve been stuck with.

Doin' work since... ever.

I'm so used to the underdog role

I loathe actually being the favored team, or I should loathe it is what this game taught me.
