Panthers Complete Roster Adjustments

Here's the entire official release from the Panthers site:

The Carolina Panthers have made five roster moves to reach the 75-player limit for the NFL's first roster cutdown, the team announced Tuesday. Carolina placed quarterback Brett Basanez and defensive end Rondell Biggs on injured reserve, placed wide receiver Josh Davis on the non-football illness/injury list, waived/injured wide receiver Justin McCullum and waived fullback Marlion Jackson.

On Sunday, the Panthers waived seven players. All NFL teams must reduce their rosters to 53 players by 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1 for the start of the regular season, which begins for Carolina on September 9 at St. Louis.

Wow, I actually got one right, the FB Jackson and maybe half credit for considering Josh Davis. I didn't realize Biggs was injured, I saw him play against the Eagles. I considered McCallum but I thought maybe they would keep the receivers longer.

Is anyone surprised by list? The next cutdown on Saturday is the hard one.

the next cuts
I'm not surprised by McCullum getting cut.  I've never heard of him until this post.  The questio is who is next.  Can we really keep Smith, Jarrett, Carter, Colbert, Robinson and Biddle.  I think so.  If one has to go, which one?  Biddle has been more productive, but Colbert had a good game.  Carter looked to be the front runner for the number two job until last weekend.  So they all basically suck with Biddle and Jarrett having the most potential.  We've already seen the best of Carter and Colbert.

We also have a lot of LBs:  Morgan, Davis, Beason, Diggs, Anderson, Seward, Shaw.  I don't know if anymore than that are in camp, but I hope all of those guys make the team.

I'm waiting to see what safeties are released from other teams.  Right now I think the best safety out there is Terrence Kiel.  He's young and experienced.  He's had some legal issues, but Fox could take care of that.  I'd rather not sign him.  He's an upgrade over having no depth at all at safety, but I'd rather find a better player without the legal history.
