The Profound Julius Peppers
Julius participated in former Tar Heel teammate
Ron Curry’s Football Camp & Celebrity Weekend and had this to say about the recent off-field problems of other NFL players:
"It's always a couple of bad apples who spoil the whole bunch, but overall, the NFL has a lot of good guys. Sometimes I guess negativity sells or brings more attention, so people are going to focus on that. But there's a lot of good things going on in the league. We probably should get a little bit more promotion doing these kinds of things."
Julius has always been a fairly well-spoken athlete and I think he hits the nail on the head. It costs money to promote the good stuff because the media is not interested in feel good stories. They want the dirty laundry and will cover that for free. What is sad is that there’s really not much we can do about it.
He had more to say that I really liked:
Question: Now you've achieved a lot in your career so far, already 53.5 sacks in five seasons, gotten a big contract, what is left for you to get individually – NFL Defensive Player of the Year?
Peppers: "Most definitely. Hopefully, I'll get one before I set it down. One or two."
Seventeen sacks should do it Julius. He has the work ethic to get it done and has to be one of the favorites going into the season.
